The Great Rehearsal

The Great Rehearsal, by Carl Van Doren, describes the goals, proceedings, and tumult of the federal convention of 1787.  The book presents the arguments and compromises that led to the writing and acceptance of the United States Constitution.  A rebinding of the 1948 Viking first edition, the boards are covered in blue cloth and overlaid with stripes and stars of blue and red goat skin.  The inset panels contain the convention participant signatures on parchment-like paper. The edge painting at the head depicts the sun carving of George Washington’s chair used during the convention.
