To a Coy Koi
by Patrice Miller
The original sixteen-line poem in iambic pentameter, a parody of Andrew Marvell’s “To His Coy Mistress,” is an aquatic gardener’s lament. The structure is a crossed portfolio with an illustrated three-dimensional “pond” core. The decorated matchbox sleeve enclosure provides the title, colophon, and limitation.
Materials used are lokta paper and two different bookcloths. All illustrations are hand-drawn and hand-colored, therefore each book of the edition is unique. Edition of 7.
Dimensions: 2 ½” square
